Pulling a company trailer and I have bought a wet kit just need to get it put on. I have some contacts that I can haul for close to home but I am going to wait and see what this economy is going to do in the next twelve months before I buy a trailer (dump or hopper) and go on my own. I need to sell my step deck first.

My broker swears that a dump is way better and would cut down dramatically on deadheads. If you get a dump, he could really use you. Lots of scrap metal apparently in his routes, plus anything a hopper will handle.
Big John Thanks this. -
Thanks PharmPhail, yes their is alot of other things you can haul in a dump then a hopper, a lot faster to unload too.
Some guys have dumps around here and they haul wheat for the farmers during harvest and sometimes they haul wheat over to Tulsa to the Port and rock back, then they find out you have a dump they want to lower the rate because they know you are hauling rock back. -
I pulled dumps too... I don't miss it. Lot of stress involved with dumping. I would rather pull hoppers any day.

Wheathauler, dad and I have both been busy this week hauling what wheat there is here. Out of the elevator, not out of the field. It wasn't a great year for wheat here, we got rain all day the 4th of July, and a little rain here and there last week keeping guys out of the field, and by the time they got to it, the test weight wasn't very good, but they just wanted to get it out and be done with it. One of my loads today was about 16.2 moisture and 53.2 test weight. I had what I thought was a pretty good load on and still only weighed 79,000.
Do you guys work directly for Cargill or through a broker or something? -
I hauled a lot of rock salt in winter with my dump. Not the best weather to be driving in. They do have liners ,you can put in them, so you don't have to go as high up when dumping. Only had one go over that was enough
That's why I like hoppers won't fall over and doesn't go up in air. -
