Fuel went up .16 cents here in the last couple of days. Paid $3.72 this morning at the local Coop. I am just glad I am on a 12 mile haul and not burning much fuel this week. Getting a light shower and a lot of thunder tonight.

Up here from 3.649 last week to 3.849 this week too,Big John. Been on a longer run myself though,167 miles including the bounce back:biggrin_25521:. Hauling July contracted wheat off of farms, purty good pay too but i'm afraid it ain't gona last long, saw some ''red-taggers'' in there today:biggrin_25513:. It's been hot and humid here lately too,97 today and 98 yesterday,me and Molly took 2 gallons of water with us today,( frozen used milk jugs) and came home with both jugs empty!

On a positive note,my 'ole cat averaged 6.14 mpg this past quarter:biggrin_255:,not too bad for an old relic:biggrin_2559:.

Ya'll have a good week and stay hydrated:biggrin_25525:

I use to, there is a lot of it that moves all over the country. I always hated to go into a scrap yards to load or unload. Where I live I have a friend that runs three trucks hauling it everyday of the week to Tulsa or Ft. Smith and some to Midalothion, TX. One big scrap yard here is always looking for trucks to haul and the money is good, just not enough scrap haulers around.

Something new happening around here. They have county sheriffs doing DOT checks around Wichita. It was bad enough when state was doing it but now the county. Evidently the county needs more revenue.

Hey big john well we just had our second child june 15th a little boy. Ive just been doing same ol gig pulling pnhematic tanker man i know i spelled that wrong lol. My dad has sold his trucking buiss in western ks really sad to see it all go. He sold 4 w900s, 4 older wilson hoppers, a cattle pot, tanker, flat bed. Ive been on him for years to run it by the book and the outlaw in him just couldnt play by the rules. Hes 62 and had a major audit that shut him down he decided to call it quits. The good news me and my younger brother beat dad out of the freightliner in my avatar, it was his first brand new truck he bought it in 1981 and i grew up in that thing and learned to drive and even took cdl test in it in 1992. They only used it during harvest for last ten years fresh 400 cat, 13spd, 3.73s 60 flat top. Im toying with the idea of buying a hopper and either trying to lease it on around wichita or reinstate my old authority. Shes old but it in awesome shape. Its been sheded its whole life except for when its out running.

I heard that john, in the past two days ive gotten two flats. Ive been wanting my own truck for awhile now but I was thanking God it was a company truck i was driving this week.

Crop, Congratulations on the new addition to the family! That looks like a decent old freinghtliner would it be hard to insure a truck that old? I hate to see what happened to you father happen, its a #### shame...

Well congrats on the new kid CJ (future trucker, lol). To bad about your dad and his business I hate to see the older guys get out of the buisness but you have to change with the times and laws. Well I am glad you got a truck and you know the history on it. What ever you decide to do I am sure you will make the right decision for you and your family. Be safe!

Canadian County, El Reno, OK which is south of Kingfisher, OK (HWY 81) and west of Oklahoma City on I-40 has there own DOT enforcement and they love grain and rock haulers. I think one of Highsides guys had a dealing with them awhile back over an axle weight. It is something that has been going on for years in other parts of the country and I think it is going to be the norm in Oklahoma and Kansas in the future. Texas has a lot of City police departments that have DOT enforcement.

Oklahoma is getting there new chicken coops built this year and next so it should be interesting on the big road. The first one just south of the Kansas/Oklahoma line on I-35 should be done this fall and the next one on I-40 just east of the Texas/Oklahoma line should be done just after the first of the year. They are talking about manning these 24/7, I don't see it happening when the state is broke but if they plan on revenue from truck fines it may happen. The Oklahoma trucking association is for it and had an article in the Tulsa paper the other day saying overweight trucks are tearing up our roads and bridges, even at 80,000lbs they are doing lots of damage and then the trucks that are hauling over 80,000lbs are doing more damage. What was funny at the end of the article it mentioned the government proposing to raise the weight limit to 97,000lbs.
