He was off to test when I talked to him and haven't heard. I was surprised but they are offering all kinds of discounts and premiums.

No, he didn't get a different truck...he got a different job. About 7 months ago he had to have back surgery that took him out of the truck for 2 months. He sold trucks for Ireland during that time to keep some income coming in. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, and Ireland offers him a job dispatching the OTR flat and refer trucks he has, along with selling trucks on the side. Our guy said it would be the same money he'd ben making, but without having to work on a truck on the weekends, and not as many hours away from home. With it looking like work being in short supply this winter, we weren't upset about it, and wished him luck in his new venture.

If anybody has a flat and wants to put it to work hauling hay, he has a lot of it moving at really good rates.

I got an e-mail on a load that paid $1.35 a loaded mile. Guess there aren't any loads around to be paying that low.

There's an outfit by the name of Dasco that's constantly sending us faxes for loads of fertilizer coming out of Oklahoma going to Nebraska and Colorado for rates like this. We told them to take us off their list if they were going to insult us like that.:biggrin_25516:

Yep. He's a good guy. Always did what he said he would do or what was asked of him, and without complaining. He was one of the few that understand trucking isn't going to change for you if you don't like it, so if you're going to be in it, deal with it. Some guys just can't grasp that concept.

He's pretty good dealing with people, so I think he'll do all right in his new job

I have a feeling going to see a lot more of those low ball rates. The loads just aren't around right now, al least the ones that pay anything.

Well we are planning on starting slow by this weekend. Forgot to ask him the mosture but talking to ADM they said they saw some 16% from early planting and the testing has been coming in under 20%. Pioneer has seen some bad issues with corn not pollinating but we have had no issues and we are 100% Pioneer.

We got a line on a third backup hopper but the guy is 20% over market. Kicker is he has ALS and a local guy so little iffy about offering him a price at 20% discount. Very sad. Owner of one of the local elevators and trying to sell everything off.

Big John, Highside or wheathauler. Have you guys seen Lewis trucking before? I think there out of Keota, OK. They were hauling into cargil today in droves. Mostly all new hoppers black sides, couple spread axle huskers. Good looking equipment. Just courious. Oh and all ive seen loading midds is MTI and ROBLES. Pretty much same caliber. Had a MTI truck swing to wide and run into a trailer fender of ours. It was The big green T600:biggrin_25526:.
Hope your all having a good week.

Haven't seen any Lewis trucks yet but I haven't been doing much. I wonder how they can afford the new hoppers? MTI has some pretty bad drivers, at least the ones that come up my way.
