The terminal elevator were I haul has been taking wheat in from smaller elevators. They also been shipping out milo to ethanol plants.
Couple of years ago, they wanted wheat out of western kansas so bad they paid for me to deadhead out there. May not every happen again though, there were a lot less hoppers then. -
Man those fields out there are thick. I haven't seen it like that in years. -
Yes, Our fall crops look real good too. I'm thinking may become very busy in August. A few of the smaller elevators have shipped some out but not a lot...that may be a changing.
In the process of emptying one elevator out. Had about 200,000 in it. Should finish by the end of next week. It's where there is a lot of irrigated corn. It's kind of a overflow elevator...takes corn when other elevator starts to get full. -

When are you going to start dumping? -
I just picked up my first load of Bone Meal yesterday. I'm a bit worried about it. First is the fact that it will be sitting in my trailer for 3 days before I unload it, and 2nd is the signing in triplicate at some places stating I've not hauled it! It's gotta be nasty stuff. Not to mention I almost passed out from the smell at the place.
Smithfield meat packaging. LOT'S of dry vans and reefers there too, so I know a lot of you have been to places like this no matter what you've pulled. This was the first time I've actually witnessed the line of drivers signing in and giving cell numbers waiting for dock time. Doesn't look like fun. -
If it is loaded hot it might be a problem getting it out. At least soybean meal can be, don't know about bone meal. Some of the other drivers may know about bone meal.
Did you sign something saying you hadn't hauled it before. -
This load was a PITA all the way around. The phone number I got was a bad number. Got a second number from my broker and called that. They were happy to give me directions. I was following them just fine for a long time and started to get nervous. I was headed way OOR from Tar Heel, NC. I finally pulled over and called back to doublecheck. I was going to the wrong facility about 70 miles away!!! All said and done I went about 80 miles OOR going past and backtracking. I was not a happy camper, especially since I was already taking the load 130 miles through home for the weekend after. What started as a great load will end up being $1.10 if I'm lucky after all is said and done... as usual.
