I've been seeing hoppers sitting all over with for sale signs tacked on them. Plenty still on the road though.

I'm not surprised. It's been very slow around here. The guys that are running aren't getting the best of rates. That's mainly why I haven't posted much---nothing going on.
Big John Thanks this. -
I saw a load posted today going to a not so great place to get out of that was "all in" on the rate at what amounted to $1.69/mi.
I am done with the hopper myself. Things look worse now than they did a month ago, if that is possible. -
Purty slow here too fellers,i've got a few loads of Jan. corn from a couple a small farmers lined up for the rest of the week, but it looks like that's about it for now,and neither one of the farmers can load me unless it's dry or frozen around the bins,so i may be forced to deadhead down to keep my b-meal and soy-hull accounts up and running
,and we all know how profitable that'll be. It ain't pretty out here right now, that's for sure. I may have to dust off the tarps and drag out the chains and binders this winter. I don't mind to work, but i can't say i like sleeping in Motel 8's.

hey guys just like to tell you i see alot of hoppers here in SW kansas, i know rates are bad everywhere, but there's prob some work around here.
idk why but kansas has no construction lol.. no dumps whatsoever, probably seen like 2-3 only, florida where im from, even with how bad it is the dumps are everywhere. -
florida doesn't get the weather the rest of the country does.
constructions is always slow in january and february as that's the worst time of the year. it's hard to dig up ground that's frozen. and when it thaws. the trucks either get stuck or they track mud out on the streets and that's a pretty hefty fine. -

rate worked out to $1.06 loaded mile -
Wow, that's pretty bad

So is it safe to say that there is a "saturation point" to some of the areas in the industry like hoppers? This is something that I have pondered on for a while, as we watched the rates go down towards the last of the months that hubby was hauling.
