RW thanks for the reply!! Yes I have noticed more and more farmer owned rigs like the one I drive and few and far between O/O's unless they are hauling for a co-op I understand what your saying about a bleak situation....Also thanks for the rates break down

Wheathauler, I heard about the weather forecast for you tomorrow, keep an eye on the sky and an ear on the radio. Hope it doesn't amount to much.

This is the biggest problem in my area too,and i'm all for farmers making a good living(my son and dad both farm still, and i'm also involved more than i'd like),but your biggest competion hauling grain is gona be from other farmers,of which only a handfull run their trucks ''legal for hire'',so you have to factor that in. I have had better luck finding ''smaller'' farmers who don't have very much bin capacity, they are generally more needful of harvest trucks since they are so small. The trick is lining up enough smaller farmers that are fairly close to each other so as to keep you busy at harvest without sitting while one farmer is broke down. The only draw back is if they need you at harvest because they don't have bin capacity, there won't be any Jan.,March contract hauling for them either. That's why i started working more with locally owned feed-mills.

RW has giving you some good advice,DFB

Wheathauler, did you get any serious storms? We had about an inch of rain here this morning and early afternoon, which was much needed.

We made it ok. Wichita got hit some but no one was killed. Nasty weather for sure.

    Wheathauler,
When do you think wheat harvest is going to start in SC Kansas? I have an uncle that works a the COOP in Danville, and he thought they'd be going in about a month. Looks like an earlier harvest in your parts maybe this year. Hope it is a good one. So many years you guys struggle with drought, hail, etc.
