Has anyone hauled chip seal in their hopper? I was wondering if it would tear the hopper up since it is crushed rock.

I don't haul any rock but supposedly if it's small doesn't hurt the hopper. Also depends on how good the loader is. I hauled dump before and sometimes loading they were very rough.

3/4" is where it starts to get rough and more like gravel. 1/4" is small, round, light (usually) and not unlike corn. Hauling a lot of it will still wear the trailer walls down from the abrasion, but that takes a while. We had 1/4" plastic sheets mounted to the walls out our dump trucks that lasted several years under extreme wear hauling chip. I don't think hauling a few loads of the smaller stuff will do any damage.

Well, hauled beans, milo and corn this week. Milo and corn were going to ethanol plant. Have a few loads to haul to ethanol plant next week. Been really warm this week just pushing the wheat harvest up. Thinking end of may still for wheat harvest around here.

Lonelyswmtrucker, I don't know of any specific companies. I'd say search the internet and classifieds of your local papers.

Wheathauler, that must be early for wheat around there. I think the 2 seasons I worked, we left for southern OK the 3rd week in May the first season and the 1st week in June the 2nd year. Sounds like you are staying busy.

Been warming up and getting rain here, the corn is looking really good and some beans are starting to come through now.

Hey guys I just looking at the back pages and catching up on what everyone has been doing. I took a breather from the Truckers Report and was just hanging out on Facebook meeting a lot of people that pull hoppers. If your on Facebook check out my hopper page:

Well I have sold my Kenworth T800 and my belly dump, just had enough of the rock hauling and the oil field work. I bought a 2002 Peterbilt 379 flattop, 550 Cat , 18spd, 265wb and solid black from a friend of mine. Then I picked up a 2006 Timpte that is 43x96x66 that was well taken care of that started out being owned by Jadansa out of Russell, KS and then one of their O/O's had it the last two years. Got a good deal on both of them so I am back in the hopper business that I really enjoy. I am not going to dedicate myself to one grain buyer like I did last year and it sucked, I have some pretty good contacts that I am talking to and will see how it goes after harvest. I am waiting to stretch my legs and do some runs into Kansas and back and maybe over east into the show me state.

I think their will be a shortage of trucks for harvest so maybe the rates will be real good, looks like they will be cutting here within the next ten days. The problem they are going to have is storage since a lot of elevators are still storing last years crop and haven't got their butts in gear to move it.
