I actually did haul a few loads today even with all the outside trucks. Spent this afternoon fixing my electric tarp...get lazy when you have one. Heard some truckers say they may start hauling for farmers around little river, salina area...didn't get as much rain as we did. Guess we had 60-70 mph winds during the storm. I don't know but I was doing around thirty and it was still rocking my truck, thank god I was loaded.

I knew I was an "outsider" last year with the TN plate in IL lol. It did get a few comments but no-one acted ticked about it. Did anyone notice this thread hung up on 666 pages then when it goes to 667 Big John posted up comment number 6,666 yeah silly I know, things were a tad slow the other day ago.. Good to see the bad ju-ju numbers gone anyways

I say the more the merrier. I get tired of seeing the same old people/trucks anyway. I usually don't see too many mercenaries around here during harvest. The attention you got up here was probably more the novelty of seeing a TN plated truck than anything else.

Must be one hell of a harvest this year. Every combine I've seen was moving about 1/2 mph. Talked to an Okie trooper the other day
He said they were about 80% done down there already.

Have seen trucks from South Dakota, ILL, OK, NE. Usually see a lot from SD and NE the ILL trucks were unusual. Many I talked to were going home after the Kansas harvest.

We got just a little rain night before last and suppose to get a little more today, it slowed harvest down some. News report said we still had over 50% of wheat still left to cut so I am saying 40%. The big elevator guys say harvest will last to the end of next week and then back to regular hours unless they get some rain next week. I had a chance to haul for some farmers and for good rates but it just takes longer to get loaded down here, no big farms with several machines and grain carts like they have up north.
I don't mind the outside trucks they have been coming here for harvest for many years long before I ever started trucking. Have some friends that come down here also and haul so it is all good times, met some good Missouri boys this year and got some good contacts for hauling in other areas. Also noticed some harvester trucks hauling for the elevator when it rained. People get the feeling sometimes including myself that hey your coming in my backyard and hauling my loads but you can't haul it all. I am just glad the no driving harvesters are gone and now they are in Kansas with Wheathauler. lol. Be safe! -

Glad to see ya'll are having a nice harvest so far, hope it continues well. I have hooked up with a couple of different brokers that have actually been treating me very fair with rates, and some nice out and back runs that will maybe allow me to run my day cab thru another summer. We had a really nice rain here last night/this morning,so it should help the corn. I have never in my life seen so much corn planted in Ky,farmers have burnt down every little sod field they can find for corn, and have been undercutting each other for land to rent, but from what i've seen, the bean acres are a tad short.
Ya'll get any rain up your way,R.W.?
