Tough question. Like reefers, breunger in wichita might be hiring don't know. Pulling a hopper could try Sun Valley in Hutch.

Had a buddy i haul with that took a load to 4 different elevators before he finally got a clean alfatoxin test, ended up being the first elevator he took it too the day before:biggrin_25526:,stuff tested anywhere from 86ppm all the way up to 547ppm,last test at 1st elevator the next day was 8ppm:biggrin_25513:. I'm afraid your right, not many farmers are putting corn in bins around here either. You staying busy still with your flat?

Welcome to the hopper thread The Specialist!

Good to see you back to posting Lilbit, glad your feeling better. How's Nik doing, the invitation still stands if he get's this way!

Been hauling corn but it's about done, beans are gona be in full swing by thursday/friday if this weather forcast holds. We've missed all that rain that ya'll have been getting, for now at least.

That's about spot-on for hours during harvest season since it's harder to get guys to come off of harvest hauling and haul by-products. Wait till Dec/Jan when all the farmers get done with harvest and start hauling everything under the sun so as to keep their drivers busy, you'll slow down then.

It had been slow around here for a while, had'nt it WH. Fuel is 4.05 here. How are you doing, heard from BigJohn lately, have not seen him or highside on here for a while.

Just found this thread, not reading through 668 pages to catch up :p . I haul hoppers once in a while, end dumps too hauling wheat n barley n oats n corn n beans n corn gluten n DDG.

Been spreading lime and fertilizer for the past few weeks though, pays a bit better than driving a truck. When they find a guy who can spread fertilizer at 100 lbs/ac and stay half a pound/ac off target as an average ... they pay :).

You guys pull the corn off before the beans??

We've started on the corn here a little, still lots of beans on the ground though which is usually pretty well done by now.

How's it look down there?? Been hit or miss here because of the drought. Some guys are getting 1 1/4 T/ac. average for beans which is pretty good considering the summer we've had. Corns been mid to high 3's mostly from what I hear. (mind you the amount of corn we produce in a year is what you guys leave on the ground in the fields lol)

I haven't been around most of the year. Things just progressively got worse with my back. Finally found a doc that has a clue and was able to get things fixed. The story of what was done is here. I am a new person now! I feel better than I have in 7 years.

    dairyman and wheathauler Thank this.

Years ago I ran dump trucks and trailers. I would probably go with peterbilt or kw for a dump truck...just think they hold up better. They will also cost more but will bring more on resale or trade.

I vote KW or pete as well.

Macks make decent dumps but some of 'em are entirely made by mac, tranny and all, I'd stay away from those. They're not bad trucks but macks daddy is volvo now so god knows what directions that's going to take (parts etc.???). Goes without staying but I'll say it anyways ... stay the hell away from purebred volvos as they haven't even figured out how to make good a OTR truck yet :).

Old Macks still hold up well. We've got two 98's that are tough as nails. Boss likes them for the 9 spring clutches. I'd get at least the 427 though. Ours have 350's and they get the job done but they really slow down on the hills.
