Man, the fee has gone up...price per vehicle still $10. Can't remember how much it cost me I've had it too long. Pretty sure wasn't that high. States trying to get your money.

Am I understanding that you have to pay a permit fee if you do NOT go out of state with a load even if you have IRP INTERstate? Or is this only for trucks hauling INTRAstate?

I can't remember ever getting one of these. Is this a one time thing, or something you renew? Most of the grain we haul is sent down the river, and the trucking on it is considered the first leg of an interstate transport, so its considered interstate. I'm sure at some point, we haul something here or there that's used for feed or something that stays intrastate.

Feeling kind of dumb tonight I guess....:biggrin_2554:

I believe you only need permit if you haul intrastate only. That's the way I orginally started out then went interstate later. Still have ks intrastate permit along with IRP interstate.

The way I was told on IRP ,if I went to say Oklahoma, I could haul intrastate because I had IRP jurisdiction for Oklahoma.

You may not need one. You might be considered hauling exempt comodities.

first post kinda glad to find a group of hopper guys around here I have an 06 pete glider with c12 from the Nicks transport tanker fleet seems pretty Ideal with my 09 timpte 40x72 it weighs 26,000 with half tank of fuel anyone ever haul into mars pc (doanes) at joplin I just love being portable corn sorage for them. I ought to read this whole forum but that could take a while I know the rates a low but with the basis spread Ive found some pretty good oppotunities hauling off farms direct to end markets

That's where you probably could make money hauling off farms to end markets. Could lose some depends on market. No haven't hauled to Doanes..I'm pretty much local at this time. Will go farther out after fall harvest if anything going.

I have a C-12 also I weigh in at 26,600 with half a tank. 40x72 is that an ag hopper?
Usually a regular Timpte will go 42ft.

I looked through all my paperwork yesterday and the closest thing I could find to that is the Unified Carrier Registration, which if I remember, takes the place of the old cab card? I think grain is an exempt commodity now that you mention it. I don't understand the hows and the whys of all the ICC stuff, I just try to jump through the proper hoops and keep the i's dotted and t's crossed.

Not sure if UCR replaces cab card. If you have ever been stopped by DOT and they checked you out...and didn't get fine for no permits should be ok. Here it could be up to a $5,000 fine for hauling without intrastate permits.
