Oh, yeah I was confused. I was thinking of a full on cargo claim, not just a reject. Haven't had either yet, not even a consideration of such yet. But, I have not pulled a lot of organics either. When I do it's usually for dog food.

That brings me to a question, wondering if you knew the answer to this trivia. Why do chocolate bar companies seem to be joined with pet food companies?

I thought it was coincidence when I took a load to Mars. They make Mars bars and others, plus whiskas cat food and a few others.

A couple weeks later, I forget where, but I saw as sign for Nestle/Purina.

    what's up with that?

I don't know. Hopefully they do not put pet food in chocolate bars. Makes a person wonder though. I used to like Nestle not so sure anymore. Course pets might like chocolate in pet food.

    Dang Pharm

Now you have got me thinking why are the pet foods and chocolate bar companies merged together.

    Yeah it's curious.

The obvious possibility is that some byproduct of one industry is useful to the other. It must make profit from waste somehow.

Sounds good to me. It must make them money or they wouldn't do it.

Bakery Feeds , a division of Griffin industries gets waste from Pillsbury and several bakeries to use for feed . I wish all feed smelled that good .

A lot of feed mills ask to see bills from previous haul . Some won't accept loads that previously hauled meat and bone meal , even with a washout slip . I saw one driver that had a washout slip after hauling glass but when they opened the trap for a sample it had glass in it .

Yes actually Purdue once asked me for the previous BOL to photocopy for the load paperwork. I thought that was pretty invasive. And what if I didn't have it with me??

It wouldn't be an issue really if the strict receivers paid a washout surcharge. Some of these runs are only 150 miles. A washout is $50 plus OOR miles and time. They'll have to deal. You'd have to really be bored to haul for them out of your own pocket.

    wheathauler Thanks this.

You and RickG haul different loads than I do. I've never had to wash out the trailer. I have had to blow it out to haul certified seed. Sounds like you have a lot more paperwork.

Washouts are a joke because they aren't going to get all the product .
