I just yanked a really nice set of horns off an older Pete at the boneyard and only one of them had a cover on it, but I noticed something rather interesting. The one *with* the cover on it was filled with crud when I pulled the cover off and was heavily oxidized in the inside of the horn, and the one without the cover was clean inside the tube and the horn was fairly shiney and won't need much cleanup at all.
So is this a fluke or do horn covers keep junk in while leaving them open to the elements allows them to self clean going down the road?
