Horsepower or torque

Use to do it with a 430 Detroit at 1450 ft-lb, always thought it was plenty of power. Just depends on how much of a time constraint you may or may not be under.
Heck, a 350 hp would do it.
I also did it with a 565 hp Cummins. Certainly a lot more fun to drive but the truck weighed a lot more.

 

If you go Volvo, their D13 455HP synched with their I-Shift is all you'll need.

 

You got some solid-gold advice on that thread. According to your own post you're not even sure whether you're going to run local or cross-country, so it's a little hard to be more specific.

I assumed he was referring to working for the 1099 folks famous in the Chicago area. I could be wrong.

Bite your tongue, those where the engines to have back in the days. Cat 1693TA. Just needs the after cooler.

P.S. You need to listen to one idling and going through the gears. If you know engines, this was/is one of the sweetest sounding engines in my opinion.
