Since 60/7 is only for companies that run 6 days per week, you will generally do a reset on the day the company isn't working.
If your company doesn't run on Sunday, and you are done by 7 PM on Saturday, your reset will happen at 5 AM on Monday. The sucky part of the 168 hour rule is that if there's that one Saturday when you work until midnight, your reset won't happen until 10 AM on Monday... week after week after week... -
What Ms Jamie said is the information you are looking for. The 60/7 hos rules are for companies that do not run 7 days a week. This usually is a company that hauls its own products or is a LTL company. The people who pass these Regulations think like non truckers, which they are. If you run 8 hours a day, you can do that forever. That is the point. If you find yourself driving one day for 11 hours you are going to have to drive for only 5 hours soon to make up for that 11 or do a restart. Since you are working for a company that takes a day off anyway then most likely that day will be a restart day.
A restart has to have two periods of time that fall in the 1 AM To 5 AM time frame. So stop working at 7 PM the night of your 34 will allow you to complete the 34 hour at 5 AM the morning of your second day.
As part of their page where OOIDA is trying to sell you their Webinar series, OOIDA has two free short video's that deal with HOS. They are not complete because they want you to buy the full video of course, but they do a good job on this question. Go to
http://www.ooida.com/OOIDA Foundation/index.asp
Click on the "free videos on" sign and it will take you to the two free videos. They are worth your time.
I do not work for OOIDA, I am just a member. -
Accumulating the 168 hrs is both on duty and off duty. In other words the next reset is set in stone no matter what, if you decide to take it. So if you work for two days and then take the next two days off, the off days goes towards the 168 hrs, as well as the on duty. Yes the reset is an option, but in my case I've found I have to take it thanks to impatient shippers and receivers who want their freight ASAP.

That's ok driver, I'm not going to argue with Another one of you guys. I'm on elogs. Therefore QComm has it set for me on the tablet. So if they don't know, then nobody knows, correct ? I know when the next eligible time is to take my 34 hrs if I wish. The only people that argue the toss with me are the ones on paper logs, or the ones that just can't get it. Even our logging dept get it wrong sometimes.
But I can't fix "stupid" I put forward a point, if you can't fathom it then that's your problem not mine.
good luck -
It's okay driver, read and learn.LBZ Thanks this. -
Example Saturday Jan 25th @ 5 pm you begin your 34 hour reset & roll out Monday.
Next available reset is Saturday February 1 @ 5 pm.
However, if you had NOT exceeded your 60 hours in 7 days, you can recap your hours without doing the reset. That is all he was saying.
