My minute-break fix went out the window when it was brought to my attention that the FMCSA intends for any 2+ break following any break, no matter how long, that includes 8 hours in the sleeper (or 7/3 - whatever) to pause the 14. (The fix still applies to my Peoplenet tablet, but in general it isn't needed for an ELD that's applying the rule correctly.) The split box isn't something new that suddenly showed up because of the new rule. I don't see how you can ever be driving in violation then have some future action retroactively turn it into being legal. Maybe a specific example would help. If such a scenario exists, then I don't see how DOT can cite you if you have an "out" available.
Reveal eld formerly fleetmatics has it figured out. Used the 3 and 7 split twice last week. As soon as I had a 3 hour break it extended the 14 hour clock. Then had a 7 hour break in the sleeper.
Well its the government, they'd screw up a simple birthday party by arguing what color the funhouse should be, yet forget the actual focus of the party, THE KID WAITING FOR CAKE!!!!!
Yes, im much less stressed if a shipper happens to take 3hours to load, i simply use off duty to make that time the first part of a potential 7/3 split.....but i still just take a 10, the nice thing is it still doesn't hurt my 14, i still have full driving hours.....
I think of the 10 hour break in a split sleeper scenario this way. A split break is two separate rest periods, one of at least two hours, and one of at least 7 hours in the sleeper berth. A 10 hour break is at least 7 hours. It can complete a split break, and reset the 14, at the same time.
So I am using the new HOS to the fullest capacity. For example, I start the shift at 8 am and then in the middle of a day take a break for 3 - 4 hours to eat, stretch legs and watch some TV letting the rush hour traffic to get by to finally resume driving and finish before Midnight. It does suit me well. I like it. I really do.
What are you guys talking about? It dont matter how you log it. Eld vs paper. Its the same. Guess you guys that call a ton of us "cheaters" "old timers" finally get the point? Welcome to trucking. This is not a new concept kids! You all that found a new God and taking advantage of the law, are pioneers!
Looks like Keeptruckin fixed their app Click the button and I could keep driving using split sleeper rule That's with 3 hour off at end day. I was not planning on using Split sleeper rule tonight. The fix to Keeptruckin seems to work anyway..
