Does any driving for the day constitute needing 10hr off duty to restart? My 34 reset is up at 9:30pm and I would like to drive 2 hr towards drop off but it’s pointless if I have to wait 10hr tonight to finish it up tomorrow morning. Basically I have a full day tomorrow and would like to use some time today to have my full 11/14 tomorrow to use.

If you're loaded and going to a drop off then you have to legally be on line 3. If you're on paper logs obviously this can be fudged. No way to do it with an eld.

If you think trucking is pointless when people are in need of your freight go home already. /half teasing.
When you start a workday 11/14 that clock starts ticking. It aint stopping until you either burn it out, go to bed or go home for the day. (Night) -

Finish your 34

Thanks for all the replies. This is my 2nd week so I’d rather ask a dumb question than get busted by DOT for something stupid and put OOS and fines.
I’m decided to just head out early tomorrow instead of trying to split it up. I’m learning how to be efficient with my clock. -
Given that you were already like 24 hours into your 34 it makes more sense just to finish it up than drive 2 hours and have to start a whole new 34
