this is why safety managers should have no say in how you drive

they dont care about the reality of our lives, nor does DOT

but we have drivers that let their safety manager drive their truck and they stay in a world of hurt

but if you are loaded and the shipper kicks you off his property, you are driving illegal

great laws that govern our industry, isnt it?

According to FMCA, if a shipper or consignee causes you to run out of hours and you do not run out do to poor planning...they are at least partially responsible for any accident you get it after leaving their facility before the next safe parking area. Notify them of that and many will back off. If they dont. Drive carefully and explain to your log team why you drove illegally. If a cop pulls you over and hes not a **** he will escort you to a safe place and not ticket you. he does however have the right to ticket you. If you spend 7 hours at a shipper and then they want you out, thats not poor planning. Most elogs can be bypassed if you stay under a certain speed or a certain mileage. Try to find something within those limits.

It's pretty simple, if the shipper tells you to leave, you leave..end of story..And BTW if you are over hours and running that would the best time to drive all careful & stuff & not hit anything till you can get to the next "parking lot"
