THIS is what a "safe haven " is . The term does not apply to any other parking places .

I agree but its unfortunate that so many drivers/companies have abused that privilege in the past.

A couple of our drivers were doing this and got caught. They were spanked on the hand and told next time that they will be looking for another job.

you can log off all you want...how do you explain why when you logged off you were in LA and when you logged back on, you are now in Phoenix?

Laws that protect you and the other road users. How about just monitor the logs a little better and that shouldn't become a problem:biggrin_2556:

So, what is the answer when you ran out of hours at the shipper because you planned on 2 hours to load and it took 4.

Or you get there and they tell you, "no, there was no appointment for you. You load was supposed to be here LAST WEEK. We'll fit you in when we can."

And you sit there for 6 hours.

    peterd Thanks this.

####, I've only been doing this for 6 months and I've had multiple shippers take 7-8 hours. There is no planning for that.

You're working for the wrong company . Most of my loads are preloaded . Live loads take less than 2 hours .

Show sleeper berth the whole time on the log, whether it is true or not. Stay there till 8 hrs up. That 8 hr sleeper stops the clock. Now you will have hours to leave legally. Woodys, you could benefit from this procedure also.

I regularly will show a 10 - 15 min at a shipper or receiver when I first show up. After that, all time is off duty or sleeper berth. Once I bump the dock, the truck is shut off, I hand over the paperwork, then I am on my own time doing my own thing.
