Not true... I'm local in DFW, still can only run 70. I don't have to take a 30min break, can run 12 hrs in 15, and only need a 8 hr reset-But I'm still held by the 70/34.
HOS Question?

How are you allowed an 8-hour reset instead of 10?
-
A 12 only once per week.
-
Texas Local... 10hr reset and 30min break only kicks in if we run into Oklahoma and become "interstate".
-
Ah, ok. Texas state law?
-
Not sure, I think it is based on some form of oil field exemption as we run sand also. Only a few weeks in to this job...
They told me when peak hits I'll be running 15on 8off till my 70 is up, and repeat lol. -
Different things running local aggregate, I'm permitted to weigh 84,000 on a 5 axle. But only on Farm to Market and Texas highways, DOT just gave me a warning yesterday for being 2 tons over on Interstate. Mighty kind of them imo, but I feel that's something my trainer(or orientation paperwork) should have mentioned to me.

What part of my statement wasn't true? I never said drivers are exempt from hours of service. I said local drivers who stay within the air mile limit do not have to carry last 7 days. That statement is completely true. I am a local driver. I punch a time clock. Never carried a log book and never been hassled for not having one. Learn the rules before you try to correct someone is my advice to you. It prevents you from looking foolish.misterG and otherhalftw Thank this.

Never heard of this, and I've ran local for a few different companies. And I've been asked to provide logs by DOT, even though they only showed on/off duty. And I don't mind looking foolish, everyone makes mistakes
