My longest was 4 weeks straight of recap followed by only 2 days hometime...
That's basically the plan. This truck ain't moving. I just woke up and feel like I could sleep another 10 hours...

No hours. No workie. presto 34 hours to play around and rest.
Drivers should not have to fight to get that reset. If you are whipped and need a time to rest, go rest. Don't let anyone put you under a load until you are good and rested.
In my day we had no 34's I simply sent one simple message to dispatcher, basically going to just have to wait until the body gets enough sleep to be safe again. It would be around 16 to 30 hours depending on how bad off i was when I stopped that thing. I usually stopped when that truck wont stay between the lines.
I couldnt tell you how many times it was smart just to stop and get that rest. Sure they yelled and rant. But at the end of day, they want that load there without you killing yourself or a family.G13Tomcat, Bean Jr. and Boattlebot Thank this. -
And the fight begins....

My plan was to have no hours so I ran the out the 70. But then recap added hours.... all dispatch sees is hours avail. Not the fact that I'm driving myself into the dirt and just need a brake

I'm doing this with txts. I don't want to lose my temper and start yelling at the guy.
What pissed me off is my travel agent drove for 20 years you'd think he knows better.... is it a job requirement to have your brain sucked out with a vacuum when you start as a dispatcher?
No wonder our csa is through the roofx1Heavy Thanks this. -
I once came into a dispatch office of DM Bowman after spending a brutal week in Alabama, 140 degrees etc. showed up in literal cut off, tee shirt and needing a clean up among other troubles. The dispatch office was a nice 60 degrees with suits all around. You would hear a pin drop when I showed up grease and all to turn in papers. I was treated rather badly and lectured on the dress code.
I got rude and told them you take the load to Dixie land wearing those nice threads in 140 and see how you do it. I'll be more than happy to wear a suit. Provided you issue a desk, computer and 100 drivers to babysit right here in this cool office. They did not like my backtalk then.
They still dont.Boattlebot Thanks this. -
if u dont wanna work that hard then just start logging everything and it will limit what u can do, if u dont need to run that much it isnt hard to run up ur hrs on elogs, i save every minute i can but thats only because i know when im ready for a break i will take one, but with elogs you dont have to work hard if u dont want to, try logging on duty for all the time your actually on duty, it will go fast, the trick is to find a good balance tho if you are in your situation.
