you got to start somewhere, they also charge nothing up front and i owe them nothing after a year and they pay me back everything if i am there 2, so for me it was a good place to start. I know i will most likely leave after i no longer owe them anything. However like i said i have to start somewhere.

I ma sure i will learn more of the ins and outs, but i never like going into something knowing nothing.

I like to drive 11 hours a day Monday through Thursday, and then whatever I have to drive to get home on Friday, take my 34 hours restart (all of Saturday and all of Sunday), then go do it again. Never touch my entire 70 hours...but got a new 70 every Monday.

That is/would be ideal. I haven't been anywhere near that fortunate yet.

I used to say that until i got routed home to Los Angeles, dropped off the load after already planning on taking home time and told my family im coming home. I got the word that they had a load for me going to Minnesota.

"Thanks but no thanks" was all i could muster up.

Be careful about doing a 34.
Start it at the wrong time and you could easily be required to take over 48 hours to satisfy the 2 1-5 AM periods.

Yah, o.k.....you do that....and every time you run out of hours you will be as far from home as you can imagine. Your Mom would probably appreciate the financial help....but I bet she'd rather see you once in a while.

I guess what i am telling you will only come from experience.

You are going to want your hometime. Maybe not the first month. Maybe not even the second month. But eventually you are going to want to plant your feet where you are from for a few days...

IMHO--it really is time for all this RESET silliness to go away--34 reset is to many of us a very new concept--and in its original form--was actually useful--BUT--with the new rules its no longer has any usefulness--b4 the reset deal---you would have to take a full 24 hour day off--to gain hours if your were real tight--meaning you could be done on Tuesday at 4am--but would need to show off duty from Tues at midnight to Wed at midnight (what we used to refer to as needing a zero)to get rolling again--so with the original 34 deal--you could go off duty at 4 am Tues and go back to work at 2pm on wed a full 10 hours before you could on the old system--now with the new 1-5 deal--I just do not see the point--worse case if you can't recap--just take the zero--and ride
    but whadda I know?

it all depends on how you want to roll driver. and the operation you work for.

some of us prefer to burn up the 70. becuase we're home every weekend. and sometimes we actually fall an hour short. but if we don't run, then we didn't earn. and the paycheck goes south.

but like some have mentioned, the new rule can bite you in the butt. and the weekends don't always fall into place in the same manner.

the other side, if you only want to work 8.75 hours a day. your a blue collar dude and only want to work bankers hours. so you spend the other 15.25 hours tieing up a parking spot at the truck stop. where parking is already scarce in some places.

but all that aside, it ensures you haves to roll each day. but just like those that are home on the weekend and can get bit. you can also get bit running 8 hours a day. cuz not every day will work to your liking. and you could find yourself running recap with only 2 hours for that day. so your stuck sitting around.

recap can be nice. but in most operations that want you to run more then 8 hours a day. running recap won't work.

there's pro's and cons to both sides of the hours. only you can figure out what will work best.

some of us prefer to drive every day, and some of us prefer to take a weekend off. and some of us like both ways.
