Lots of ifs and buts here....If your jammed in a backup for hours what can you do...pull over and take your 10 hr break NO you must go to a safe heaven period. Then send a message to the logs department and keep that message on your q for the next 8 days end of story no DOT will have a fit over that just like your company just filed it away.....It sound to me your doing the right thing and things will happen along the highway...

I actually wondered that myself. Safe haven wasn't discussed in training at Sni and the 16 hour rule (which doesn't apply to me) was only briefly touched on.

On our elogs it'll always show we went over. No matter what. But is that how you "show" safe haven? I haven't tried but I don't think we can add remarks to our drive time.
