Thanks. The big point here is that the only mention is in a guidance. You can't look up "personal conveyance" because it's not a term, a law, a regulation that FMCSA has.

So...on another note. On my last trip HEADED HOME I was afraid I would run out of hours about 15 mi. from home :( as it was I didn't, but what if I had? I was deadhead and dispatched
home for a reset. Would the PC rule apply to this? What if a driver is headed home for a reset, not under a load and runs out of hours just a short distance away? What If I WAS under a load and dispatched home and ran out 15 mi. away?

If you are unladen{empty} and not enroute to your next dispatched load you MAY use PC.

If you are loaded or enroute to pickup your next dispatched load you MAY NOT use PC.

    I have PC'D 150 miles home.

according to the Docile Men,, you are to sit, for ten hours, and then do a fifteen minute pretrip, then drive the 15minutes home

otherwise, you are a liar and a cheat

Just wanted to add also Companies may have their own rules concerning the allowed time/length basically to keep the PC rule from being abused.

    so lets get this straight

you are at a shipper/receiver,, you are out of hours, you are booted off the property and you are now illegal?

and you guys want others to submit to this pure stupidity?

you cant drive the truck, but the truck has to be moved

call a tow company to move the truck to their tow yard, you get a motel room, cost the carrier a bunch of money

    but you are legal

and the fact some drivers submit to this nonsense is the only thing that makes congress look more intelligent

no, dont abuse the PC rules, dont use them

do as i just illustrated above

these jokers want you to run LEGAL, then run legal

when you run out of hours, and you cant drive the truck, call your dispatcher, and when he tells you "its ok, he will fix it" you refuse and tell him that you will not drive illegal

and you tell him to call a tow truck to tow their truck and get you a taxi to the nearest motel, you stay there for ten hours, then call the cab company to take you to the tow yard, and start your day (it may be your last day, but hey, YOU ARE LEGAL) and thats all that counts

we dont want anyone to be a liar and a cheat
