Nothing in the guidance states either way. Simply don't tell the LEO, or company for that matter, and no harm, no foul.

The guidance says closest practical. You do not need to run out of route to get to a closer truckstop. But if going backwards is 10 miles and going forward is 100, back it is. But if backwards is 50 and forwards is 60, forwards it is.

What if the closest is small truck stop, we know that there is slim chance that it has parking space available especially between 6-10pm. Can I just skip it and drive to the bigger truck stop better chance finding parking, most big truck stop has reserve spot too.

With any of this it's not what is or isn't allowed. None of it is allowed or denied by regs. Guidance is just that, guidance. It has no force of law.
Basically what it comes down to, is will the LEO, or lawyer in a trial, feel the movement was "nearby, reasonable, safe location"

I don't give a #### what a book says, the real world doesnt follow tue rules in a ##### book.

We do what we have to do out here. Until you're actually running up and down the road, ypu won't understand. Until you've gotten screwed by a shipper who has you sitting for 4hrs after you already dropped off another load and burnt your 3hr work window down to 27min, then you lose 3 1/2hrs of drive time, then have to figure out if you're gonna run out your clock and have a late start the next day, or you park ewrly and roll early on a fresh clock. And thats about the most simple of issues you'll run into.

Do they really make ya run that hard ? I can count on one hand how many times ive parked at a shipper or reciever , and i could lose all my fingers and still count. Yep , never. I want to park where there is a bathroom and food and a shower.

I ran out of 70 hr clock in the port of baltimore one time. Pc,d 70 miles away into a truck stop i like to go to in pennsylvania. Did my 34 hr reset there. But made it a 36 hr reset to account for the extra 1.5 of pc time , just to cover my ###... got a level 3 bright n early monday morning when i went back thru baltimore. My pc was directly out of route. He asked about it , said i had family up in that area i went to see for the weekend. "Have a good one driver" .... Its when u using pc to get closer to ur destination is when it gets u.. I have used it in seattle to drive south to geecees truck stop when my load is going east and im out of hours.... Just remeber its not against the law to use pc , u just have to use ur best judgement, make sure u are not taking advantage of it and most dot wont say a word about it ...

I had to wait about 4 hours for my appointment and had 2 left on the clock; well boys it looks like the coils won this time, I’m just not up for the task right now; I’m tired, stressed out and that usually goes along with a bit of depression lol I’m waiting for someone to unload me, after getting checked out by someone here and I’m being watched by a very nice lady who brought me some cold water haha I’m ready to go to bed, even more so, home

If it were up to me (and I suppose to some degree it is) I would’ve picked up tomorrow morning
