Hello
First off I’m new here and it’s very hard to find any info needed based on my situation. So I’d like to say I’m Native American and am free to travel and work between both USA and Canada. It’s an agreement called the JAY treaty. It basically means I can move freely between both countries and work without American visa or green card. I also have class 2 with air brakes in Canada. In Canada this is considered a CDL. But I notice most videos on YouTube require class A CDL. How would mine transfer over ? Is there many hotshot drivers that go between both countries ? If so what’s the requirements? What’s the biggest trailer I could pull with my ram 3500? I’ll have many more questions as this thread advances and some I’m sure will get answered easily.
Hot shot between Canada & USA

No matter what your First Nation status is, you will have to still abide by the laws of each country and if your residence is in Canada, the cabotage laws apply.
beastr123 Thanks this. -
Unfortunately your incorrect. I spent all day on the phone. At least you learned something today

Incase you was right I called 3 separate border crossing. You are incorrect. It happens.

Uh oh...... here we go. These threads can be fun AND informative. Have at it boys!!

I told my wife this is why I don’t join these type threads. Normally the first 5 responses are bad info. Granted my situation is unique. The boarder agents said so themselves I have a loop hole 98% of the population doesn’t have. So because of this I’d like to take full advantage of said loop hole!

If you are a Canadian truck, you can pick up in Canada and deliver in the U.S. Then you can pick up in the U.S. and return to Canada. You cannot pick up in the U.S. and deliver in the U.S. and I don't care what your status is. Cabotage laws are not enforced at the border and have nothing to do with the border since those violations do cross the border.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

Dude your wrong. I have dual citizenship your 100% incorrect ! I can stay as long as I want don’t need visa can travel to USA even during covid freely

Nothing to do with citizenship. @Ridgeline told you that cabotage laws apply. Do you even know what Cabotage laws are and how they apply to international carriers? Like I said above, if you are a Canadian truck, you can pick up in Canada and deliver in the U.S. Then you can pick up in the U.S. and return to Canada. You cannot pick up in the U.S. and deliver in the U.S. And vice versa for U.S. carriers going to Canada. Has nothing to do with citizenship or visas.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
