Hot Shots any Competition?

Do hot shots with their flat beds take business (reduce loads) from Class 8 drivers with the proper equipment? Sorry if this is impertinent, but as I continue to look at this from a business stand point, I see these 1 ton trucks all over west central Florida and wonder. Are more and more people going to Hot shots, particularly in florida where I'm at. I see these guys, sometimes with the whole family hauling construction equipment that looks like it should be on a heavier duty bed. How is that affecting the industry?
