My pickup and trailer is the equivalent of a semi w/ 48' trailer. Pretend like I'm a big rig and move on.

That you have the right to do a thing, does not necessarily make it a good idea. I have the right to own a firearm, and I am very defensive of that right. I nevertheless choose not to own a firearm, because my carrier would not allow me to keep it on the truck, and I cannot adequately secure a firearm against theft, if I am not in direct possession of it.

If you're a hotshot, and you can fit into other available parking, it's not unreasonable for big rig drivers to want you to do so. Sure, you aren't obligated to do so, but courtesy is still courtesy, whatever vehicle you may drive. This also holds true for bobtails...

Absolutely, I never take up a truck spot when I am bobtail and wouldn't like it if a hotshot truck did so with no trailer attached. The point was, if they need the spot to park because they can't fit anywhere else legally then as a commercial truck they have as much right to use a truck spot as a class 8 does.

If a HotShot has to follow the same rules and regulations as we do driving big trucks I don't see the problem with them parking at a truck stop to sleep. Lots of them guys are sleeping in them pickup trucks just like we are in the bunk. What I can't stand is these RVers out on vacation who are to cheap to park at the local KOA that they set up shop in the truck parking area. The truck stop needs to boot them out for that.

They have to park somewhere just like the rest of us... Parking doesn't bother me my question is "do they have to be elog compliant by Dec. 18 like we do?"

What about these "truckers" who park bobtail in truck and trailer spots? usually nosed in, between two trucks with trailers, tucked all the way in at the back?

Like you guys who do that deserve that spot any more then a hotshot truck with a trailer.
I have to be honest here. I would rather see a pickup with an RV in that spot. At least you can see him at night and know the spot is taken.

    Yes they do.

The company I am leased to runs more hotshots than big trucks, a lot more. All of us have to be on e-logs. Those with 1999 or older class 8 need to use the Keep Trucking app.

As long as they dont steal the fuel out of my refer I couldnt care less. Whats more annoying is RVers or bob tails taking up spots in busy truck stops when they can park other places..

As for refer fuel theft, if the #### sucker who did that on Thanksgiving moring in TN reads this, you're a ####ing scumbag and I hope you get hemroids..

I have no problem whatsoever with the HotShot Couriers sharing the truck stop. Especially when they have a trailer that requires them the length of parking spot in the truck stops. They aren't pulling anything wrong whatsoever.
I do feel sorry for those guys in those pickups. Not nearly as comfortable to drive all day long as an OTR tractor. They must start feeling like Gumby after a while.

Lets not forget the hotshots in straight trucks. Panther has a bunch of them. With a nice condo on them. Set up for teams to really kill a delivery quick.

HotShots have their place and needed.
