I pity the hotshotters spine. Spring ride equipment, rigid mounted seat and sleeping on a bench chair every night all cramped with gear all over the place.

I stand up to pee. In my truck. Next to my mattress. With closets.

Imagine going back to a cabover and thats probably fairly close living wise.

It's actually not that bad as long as you remove the back seat and build a platform. You have to get a mattress you can cut down though. I tried to use a air mattress at 1st but that sucked..

Space wise its about same as those coffin sleepers on the petes. Now with that said, if I know I'm going to be sitting all day and not pick up til tomorrow I'll get a hotel room for sure..

Doesn't matter what other truckers think about it. Truckers that park at fuel islands to take breaks, opinions are worthless.
From what you've described with your equipment, you have just as much right to park at truckstops as any other driver.

When did they change the travel centers to truck stops?

I am sitting in my MH right now, sitting taking up a spot where a truck would go, I have one of my trucks next to me and waiting for three more so I can talk to the drivers. I am waiting for someone to bother me about it.

The worst is last week I went through a Pilot, I forget what state but they were letting local drivers park their personal vehicles in truck parking spots so they had a place saved...

They probably rent the spaces monthly. I know a few guys who keep their truck at the truckstop for a fee.

Pride in chicopee/spfld mass [which is a corporate regional chain] used to be a lizard lot and a place to dump hot tubs and boats at 3am. They fenced it, put a full time guard and serveillance and charge $10 a night to park unless you buy a tank of fuel. Cat scale gets you 3 hours. Its a good sized lot and probably 2 dozen trucks and trailers are kept there on a monthly rental basis.

Its a hell of a way to monetize a parking lot. Took me a while to realize truckers dont spend much at pilots. I started noticing most just park without even walking in.

DOT is eating them up here in Virginia. They cause so many accidents because they are all on meth, don't know how to drive, and aren't following DOT regulations. I see them all the time flooring it up Afton mountain going 45 in the left lane then flooring it down the mountain going 90. No sense in them behind the wheel with that much weight.
