Thank you all for the great information. I have spoke with the company and there is noise being make about picking up a couple of sleepers but we all know how that goes. So far there has been only one day at 15 hours but 1.5 hours was at the yard unloading after the Reno run so that part works ok. I will be very carefull about coming close to the 14 from here on though. My CDL is my life once again and I would not want to lose it.
Thanks again, George -
Yep, gaurd that CDL with your life! And yes, we all get into situations at times. And anyone that says different is a liar or a... Less than a man. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do to put the food on the table, as we are not machines and things happen. No matter what the goody two shoes say, this is still trucking.
MikeKabar Thanks this. -
And change that handle of yours. It don't look or sound good, especially when talking about going over hours in the winter and running Donner Pass.
Mike -
Sorry Mike I have had that handle since 1976 and it's a little late to change now.

Waterloo, I believe there is an exception for this rule in this situation, If the driver is home every night and is off every weekend then he is excluded. I think this needs to be clarified more and I'm scratching my memories lose to find that info. I know there is another member that is the total expert on this here somewhere on this forum so keep looking.

From the FMCSA HOS FAQs Website:

No different than having "ROADKILL" as one, I suspect.

But carriers are supposed to give all drivers this book . If they don't it's available at almost all fuel stops .
