I can PC 150 miles on my elogs. It shows a violation of company policy to do that without permission but it won't kick me to on duty driving nor will it explain the subtle legal issues around whether what I'm doing is legal or not.

Paper vs elogs has nothing to do with this.

But are you a company driver or an owner operator? It was my understanding that PC is not a valid option for any company driver?

Depends on company. Perfectly fine at some. Not so much at others

Now that is another can of worms you just opened up. Circumstances unknown at time of dispatch.

There is no legal distinction between oo and company driver when it comes to PC. Some companies do not allow it, and if you try it it will automatically kick you over to on duty drive.

The issue i think Zvar had in mind, the Op couldn't do the basic math to know how many hours he had and when they'll be done. When elogs come, basic thinking will be replaced and not being able to do math will be no excuse.

That's another thing I don't understand. Sure, my elogs tell me what I have, but they don't tell me what i will have if I do such and such. If I didn't understand the math it wouldn't make trip placing any easier.

The only thing it tells me in advance OU what recap hours I get tomorrow, of I'm running on recaps, which I avoid like a leprous lot lizard.

When i had elogs, it told me the same. After reading the op's first couple posts, and after theyve been running for over a year and some. And after driving for a mega, i dont know how or why they dont know the HOS rules. But the OP asked anyway instead of just doing. So thats worth something.

Keep reading around the forums. The lack of knowledge of basic issues and misinformation from experienced drivers is staggering to me.

    Blackshack46 Thanks this.
