A little over a month ago I got a message over the qualcomm saying our team's goal was $3,250.00. This is probably what our team leader set. I managed a little higher. Of course you are limited by the loads that you are given.

eckz, do you mind me asking, are Long or Line Haul, where do you live and what freight lanes do you usually run in? I'm from Austin, TX. Freight around here doesn't pay that much. I have a new FM now, so I'll see if that has anything to do with it.

    So true.

How to say this without being offensive, look to people who succeed with a company, not those who fail.

There are many comments on many forum about many companies. Take all you read with a grain of salt. It is easy to hide behind a keyboard and talk nonsense.

Some more of your facts, DAH? I do not try to hide exactly what my trucking experience is. It is very little compared to some. I have about one year total experience, including CDL school. I guess I am a fast learner. I do recruit for TMC in the sense that I believe it is a good company and you would have to look hard to find another where you will make over $50K your first year. I do not recruit on any trucker forum including this one. I have never asked a driver to list me so I can get a referal bonus. I do not see a problem with this, though. The company has a budget for referal bonuses. If the money isn't used it just goes back to the general budget.

Because you get so many (all) facts about TMC wrong, I am beginning to think you never worked for TMC and are just a trouble maker.

    Only in your own mind.

Who, they ones that failed? Or you can take the word of those of us who are succeeding and are willing to tell you the good and the bad, but believe the good far outweighs the bad. Who do you want to use as an example a winner or a loser?

I agree wholeheartedly. But then I have never stated anything as fact that I can't back up and when it is my opinion I state it up front.

    Now this is qood advice.

I'm line haul, but i run long haul most of the time. I live in Monroe MI (Park my truck at our old mac-steel yard) If you are long haul, get a dispatcher out of Coer D'Alene (spelling is wrong, always is..) They get the best long haul freight because thats the old Yellowstone division.. If you like to haul Boeing and make the big bucks.. ;)

When i get a few weeks out i like to run west, freight going west pays extremely well, the problem part is getting back out. Right before i quit i stayed out for a month running my arse off up and down the west coast, i brought home 1150, 1300, and 1500. The first week was a flop where i had a few problems with the truck that FM wasn't going to fix. I dropped a load off about 75 miles from Des moines and drove my truck in there empty, walked up stairs, and scared them a little.. After that he got me going good for the next 3 weeks, hehe. He got me a load outta council bluffs (Griffin) goin to Anaconda Montana.. For that following Monday, good runnin' there. However, he knows that i do not haul hay.. So that very day i told him that he had better get on the load coordinators to plan me something to get out of there, and he had me preplanned probably the best load of lumber i'd ever hauled, it paid 1.40 to the truck per mile, and was goin to L.A. When i'm home during the weekend i was OH, IL, IN, IA, NE, Etc. KY, blah blah. Anything east of OHIO i'll turn down unless it's #### good....Hope this helps you... even though most was useless rambling :)

I had to quit for 2 months. They are still paying my bills under the assumption that ill be coming back, which i am. It's a refreshing change to see that TMC actually took my word for it, and is taking care of me. I am going back on Monday to get in another truck. Gonna miss my old one, though.

That goal was probably your FM's goal. It's actually GOOD that they are setting the goal higher, since drivers like me like to go ABOVE the goal.. I had a guy try to send me home 2 days early while my FM was on lunch, and told me that because i was already at 3300 to the truck that i was doing #### good. I was like man, don't know what you bring home a week, but i need 4k to the truck to survive, hehe. Hopefully they all get that aggressive, however it's going to slow down now that winter is here.. So 3300 is going to actually be a good week now.

FYI, 2800 To the truck per week was from a line haul FM.. So thats probably a factor also. Forgot about that, and this #### thing wont let me edit.

When I was Long Haul I was earning simular numbers to yours. I made it all the way to 31% without Road Scholar and TQM. Since I have been on Line Haul my numbers have been coming down. I will start the week out really good then the rest of my runs are low paying. Texas does have some pretty low paying freight, lumber and wallboard. In Florida it is sod. I work hard and any shortcomings are not my fault.

I, too, quit. I thought I had some problems at home. They weren't as bad as I thought. I was gone only two weeks. I was back in a new truck as of Monday with a new FM.

hey Terry, i like your thinking, you really read into what this guy wrote... impressive, i like it, i may not be in the trucking industry just yet, and compared to most of the folks here, i no jack!, but i will tell you that i have learned a lot, not only from school, but this site alone, and i may not no a lot about TMC, but from school, from the recruiters, and from this site i have learned an ish load of info about them, and this is a company that i am going to apply with when i turn 23, im only 21 right now, but when you read the stuff like PAT wrote, all you have to do is search this forum for anything, and so far, about 99.990% of the ** crap ** you, opps, i mean pat posted, you cant find it here, sorry PAT, but i agree with Terry that you are just wasting our time, and 5 pages. and ill take it back to what i first said to PAT, maybe it was that YOU didint like they way THEY do things cause its to my understanding that TMC wants their work done THEIR WAY, not you way that you learnd from school, or the former flatbed you worked for....... so maybe it would be better that you just keep you ( made up ) thoughts about the company to some place, someone that will actualy fall for the line if shti that your feeding, dont come here acting like you NO IT ALL ABOUT THEM when you dont, so far, my count may be off, but it seems like 1 againt 12? and counting, as you can see, the rest of us HONST people here happen to enjoy the thread, and are taking full advantage to it as well, assiting other potential truckers, as myself, and other truckers looking to join the great experience with TMC....
im sorry folks, i no im new here, but there is a lot of CRAP floating around,
Best of luck to everyone, and to everyone out there moving America Be safe.

Well, depending on who your FM is... They do gaurantee weekend hometime. Alot of them won't run you the way you want to be ran for fear of not being able to get you home at the time that you deem appropriate.. So rather than giving you the 800 dollar load that takes you 500 miles in the other direction, they'll give you the 500 dollar one to keep you closer.

Whos' your FM? Make sure you tell him this, "I've been out here long enough to know what's coming from where, what pays, and what's going to make the most sense for me at the time. I know what my hours are, etc. Don't just send me a load, give me my options" Get him/her to start calling you so that you can chose your load, thats the best way to make it with TMC.

You've been with them over a year, they have rookies they can do that to. MAKE THEM take care of ya. ;) The length of haul on line-haul is a factor in your numbers dropping, too. The shorter the distance, the less it will pay.

Just stay line haul and take some longer ones here and there when you can.

I do do what you say. I have accepted longer runs to CA, FL, CO, KY. Seems like when I get there they will give me a load over the weekend that I could deliver early, except that it is over the weekend so I end up sitting all weekend. I had a load to FL, three stops plus consignee. I delivered a day early, they couldn't find a load for the rest of that day, the next they found a load of sod that only payed $59.00, then a load heading away from home. I busted my rearend getting there a full day early to improve my chance to get back home that weekend and they send me the opposite direction.

What's up with these load planners? It seems like they wait until you are unloaded before they will look for a load. They know I will be there at what time three days in advance. Why not start looking at that time.

Yeah thats mostly who's to blame. I've been on the phone with my FM and listened to him reaming the load planners a new one for not getting me home. After that 4 weeks that i was out i was in Indiana, dropped my load and was ready to pickup and head home... But all they had on me was loads to NE...

It felt good that he was defending me the way that he was, haha. He's on the phone with me yelling at the load planner at the same time.. "He's been out a month! I told you that, jesus is your job that hard!?" hahaha. That's what you need, an FM with some balls to do that for ya. :)
