Sorry you guys got to run Mack's that weren't properly tuned. My 88 R Model with a 350 4 valve would kill my new DD15 505 Detroit. AND it averaged 5.5 MPG pulling heavy.
My 2000 CH with E7 460 would run right with all my friends 475 Cat's, but it did have issues.
And then the E-9 500 V8. It was a real dog, passing tandem vans on 12% hills in high range grossing 140,000 pounds.
Never tried a new MP8, but my buddy has a self loader log truck (Titan with the MP10 605) and it climbs the hills in the same gear and faster road speed than his old tuned E9.....and gets better fuel mileage.
How are Mack Pinnacles?

Painted red? Hahahaha....ask me about my 2012 ISX 600. My 98 475 Cat has 15 KPH on it on every hill.
Don't get me started on the 2 fuel injection pump failures, air compressor, 6 injectors, 2 erg valves and coolers and too many NOX sensors to count. All by 125,000 KM. -
Oh wait....you are right. Real engines are painted red....the new MP series Mack's.

Day cab pinnacles about 200wb pulling 100k gross frac pump. Front end feels all over with 13 and change on the steers. I like that mp8 in terms of "snappiness" compared to cummins or dd15. Overall the titan would be way more suited for off road than the base model pinnacle. Still better than a shaker, don't see any of those in the oilfield.
his old 92 ch 400. got almost 7mpg with 3.90s, 9 over. Ate more than a few 425 cats and 430 12.7s
Pre egr 460 was nothing to write home about. 13 over 3.55 and would do 6.5ish
ENDT 675 237hp 5 speed direct 4.17 was my dads favorite. dam near 8.0 mpg but the turbo wasn't stock and fuel system was bumped up by previous owner. Hauled a few 100k + loads no problem
Worst of the bunch are 2007 427s at his work so gutless he thought it was 330hp until he checked valve cover -
These pinnacles in the oilfield are prob road spec'd. No full lockers or anything. Same run another driver and I both lost our top step and battery box cover. I'll Take Schlumberger's 367 petes to hell and back and have.

our 93 with 800k 63in mid roof rides like a caddy with mack suspension. The Ch600 was the last of the real deal, 1989-97. Rides better than any shaker or peter
