There are some decent companies out here...but in your situation being a newbie or wannabe..you still have the initial start up rookie time to get behind you...after the first 9 months or year, you can start looking into the small companies that see you as an employee with a name, not just another number and replaceable by any other new school graduate. Keep your eyes and ears open, it can be done. I drive for DHE in your area and very happy with the company, but you need to get the beginner time behind you! Good Luck!!
Yeah, I've been approved by Central Refrigerated and start training down there October 12. There are a couple companies I am looking at after I finish a year with them (assuming I don't like it at Central), I am looking at Crete if I still want to do OTR, and Market Transport, Ltd. if I want to go to a more regional carrier.
not that I know of, was just asking, because I see DHE trucks all the time...the LTL division has delivered a few times to my place of work
thanks for all your thoughts and helping me figure out my next step.ohh by the way i have my class a cdl for over 20 years but i have only drove dump trucks, trash trucks, heavy equipment.
I've got apps into Prime and Watkins Shepard as well but I haven't heard back yet...Prime is on a hiring freeze in the West right now and I got VM at W/S. From what I've heard and read around here is that Central is owned by the same guy as Swift, but they seem to treat their drivers better. I still have a lot of time to make a definite decision on where I go or what I do.
Then the company would have to be able to prove he lied. He said "no" on his application, but it sounds like he divulged this info(minor record) verbally, which is hard to prove unless they recorded the convo. In which case they would (each state has different laws about "monitoring" conversations) have to have his acquiescence to record it, in order to use it against him. They had to get his permission to record the convo. They also have to state their intention of recording it, which I bet they didn't. Just my two cents.
I want you to call OOIDA and talk to a person in there legal dept...You can type into your browser OOIDA for the number..
