Well, let's see, the last two months I worked for my previous employer, that was my run, Trenton to Richmond. Day in, day out, that's what I did. I spent more time in traffic jams than I care to remember. Trip plan?? The loads were very specific time wise, there was no way around the p/u and delivery times. They were what they were, and as such, it forced you into rush hour traffic going south and on the return as well. Then I learned about route 301, which bypasses all that garbage, making the trips more tolerable. But the money wasn't there either way, so I left that company. Until you've done it day in and day out for a while, you wouldn't understand.

As far as NYC, I've never had a bad experience up there. That's not to say I never got caught in traffic though. But I've noticed something about up there. The traffic is either moving at a steady pace, or completely stopped. None of this going 65 mph to a dead stop, and straight back to 65 every two minutes, like you see in Baltimore.

In another 10 years or so, you'll understand where I'm coming from on this. Trust me...

I live in Harrisburg PA and go into Baltimore and DC regularly. I'll take them both over NYC. Your complaining about them being worse because you were on a run that was planned by someone who never drove truck before. That's not Baltimore and DC being worse the NYC that's you having been on a run that sucks.

I had a lot of bad experiences with NYC...never had a good one. In another 20 years I'll still being saying how much NYC sucks and is the worst city to drive in America.

No complaints here...just stating my belief. Furthermore, we had numerous runs going that direction, the only good time to go through there was 2am. And even then, the construction had things screwed.
My point originally was when going to the city, you knew what to expect, as its a daily occourence up there. Just another day in paradise to them. And I can tell you, the first time I went up there, I can't say it even made my pulse change. Oh and for the record, the run was planned by a former driver, but he was fired from his desk job and is a state Representative now.

You mention Harrisburg, I travel every day through there now with this job. When 83 is screwed up (everyday), I would take the city over them azzhats anytime. You're not the JB hunt driver that goes 45 mph up 322 every day are you? I seem to see at least one a day driving well below the speed limit.

Again your complaint is that it can get bad in Baltimore and DC where is NYC it's always bad so Baltimore and DC is worse. That's just...bad.

If your applying that driving in Harrisburg PA is worse then NYC then your either A) deliberately lying to try and get a rise out if me for calling you out on Baltimore and DC being worse then NYC B) you never drove truck before or C) you are delusional.

I could care less about the planner for your previous company. It wouldn't surpise me if the guy did win election and became a state representative out of philly. Philly has a habit of electing losers.

I first went into Brooklyn to load furniture back in early 1976 when I first got into trucking. It was a Saturday and I had a grunt on board that knew evry square inch of NYC and where to go and how to get there. So that was no problem. Hunts point years later wasn't bad. Then Queens to unload with directions from the consignee. My only 3 times in the city, not counting I-95 traveling thru to Boston or wherever. I do remember x-ing the G.W. 3 times in one day when I delivered Queens. Crossed it to get in, unloaded, crossed it to get back out to wait for a dispatch at Vince Lombardi, then crossed It again to pick up a load in Ct. that night. I would have crossed it a 4th time the same day but shut down at a service plaza. Get specific directions from the shipper/consignee and get in/out 'tween midnight/5 am, if possible.

I guess there really is a love/ hate relationship with truckers and NYC. I love running NYC. I'm content. In control. I guess cutting my teeth there really made the difference, huh? lol. NYC isn't for everyone. It's for the real truckers.

Queens, Brooklyn, Staten and Long Island been there done that. .. I delivered to Jacob Javitz Conv Center once , it was AWESOME bc it was at night and all the lights of Time Square, David Letterman.. Was cool but what a PAIN IN THE ARSE to maneuver in. Some chick decided she didn't want me to
merge in traffic n drove her lil car right into my truck, didn't do anything to either of us, but she parked in front of me so I couldn't move n cops came and instead of giving her a Texas size arse whooping I put the Southerncharm on the cops and they warned her if she didn't drive away she'd go to jail . But hey other than that...kool place but not in a big truck
