Just like Sabre said, unless you miss out on a load during the week, it's pretty unlikely you'll have hours available to run very much over the wkend. From my experience it seems TMC is just not set up that way.
I can give you a real life example from this past wk. Keep in mind I log legally (98% of the time I log it just like it happens). I had a pretty good wk. actually, much better than the fustercluck last wk. was. No 2-5 hr. waits for loads/unloads this week.
Left out last Sun. afternoon (after over 34 hrs off duty) & got home early this morning (Sat.). I had 69 hrs logged when I got here. I'll be here 'til 0430 Mon. morning.
There have been several times where I have cut it MIGHTY close. Once, I got empty in Anderson, SC, Picked up in Charlotte, NC, the next morning, & after I got strapped & wrapped, I had 15 min. left on my 70 hr clock. I used that 15 min. to go up the street & check in to a motel for the wkend (34 hr wkend). IF I get stuck out on a wkend., rarely will I spend it in the truck.
Having said all of that... there was once where I did the dreaded trlr. swap on Fri. night, and then headed out to LA, CA w/a 3 stop load, from Louisville, KY. That was an interesting trip, and a learning experience. I really dint expect to get snowed in thrice, in CA. LOL
how close can you get.
