I know nothing about temperature but note, i read some threads where members said that some shippers wont load refers over 10 years old - i dont know how accurate that is or what the percentage of places have this as a disqualification just that it was posted.
I also assume you are looking to buy a refer and are or want to be an O/O which may affect you.
yeah some won't, and some frozen loads like mentioned earlier, ice cream other frozen goods they want -20.
How cold should a unit go? Buying a reefer trailer very soon

You should hit -10 no problem. -15 is great while -5 is a grandpa. You won't get any ice cream loads at zero degrees.
You should expect 14,000 hours from a new one so if it only has 2000 hours on a rebuild you should be in good shape but what was the extent of the rebuild? Was the block and crank machined or did they just slap some standard rings and bearing in it?
Is the frame, chute, doors and seals in good shape?
Every old SBIIISR I pulled would hit -5 but it would struggle to get there. They are noisy too.
I would find a SB series like a 2004 or better with low hours. Buy one from a meat hauler company and it will have lower cycle hours than a produce hauler who runs on continuous more.EverLuc Thanks this. -

getting to zero in that amount of time on an empty trailer
with ambient temp of 60
is probably as good as your going to get from any unit
especially of that age
frozen loads need to go in the box cold to get to -10
cheese will be at 35 continuous
so is the price right? -

Looks like an old Stevens Transport trailer. Yup, it should hit -10 empty even in the summer. I had a '99 SBIII that we hauled frozen fruit in and we had to precool to -10. $4300 is a #### steel but sounds way too good to be true. 8 new smart way eco friendly (1 mpg gainer yeah right) low rolling resistant never wear out drive tires cost more than that trailer. So what is the catch? The inside looks good too.
