Back when I worked at a fleet shop we let everything run all winter. Most drivers we had were boneheads and no matter how much you tried to beat it into them to leave the trucks running at 1200 RPM they would just leave them sitting at low idle. Every night before going home I'd have to walk the yard and bump up the engine speed on most of the trucks. We lost a C12 that winter because some bonehead left it idling for a week straight over Christmas. Usually get about 36L of oil out of the pan at service time. Figured I drained about 85L of oil/diesel out of the pan when I brought it into the shop.
How cold to leave running ?
