I believe we were Just using the term "windchill" for a human standpoint not the engine itself, I havent heard of the gas rag but when I was in the service, we used an Ether Starting system on the diesel equipment.

Funny how you guys talking about starting truck in the cold weather. I drive a 2010 cascadia day cab with a Mercedes engine. Has about 360k miles on it. It was 5F couple days ago. Guess what? It didn't start

I had -27 Monday morning. My 07 379 C15 started fine but my fuel restriction gauge was pegged. If I tried to bump the idle over 800 it would die. I let it idle just under that for about an hour then it ran fine. That was with a 40% #1 blend that I blended myself.

I stopped at Holiday in Forest Lake to top my tanks off and all of the #2 diesel pumps were dead.dude6710 Thanks this. -
