So, what's happening? Companies have no choice but to open the pool up to who would normally never turn a wheel. I read, in 2024, we had a deficit of 82,000 drivers. Meaning, more quit than were hired, for a number of reasons. You know what's big now, is this home delivery thing. It depletes the stock even faster, and I heard is poorly run. I'm not really sure how this is going to turn out. The regulations are simply too strict, combined with a lack of interest in the job, doesn't look good for our transportation needs of the future, if it's this xxxxed up now.Iamoverit and bryan21384 Thank this. -
If the economy gets bad.
They always turn to trucking. There won't be a driver shortage then.
It's probably the only profession that hires anyone.
The only positive about it this time.

Walmart is not a premier carrier for experienced otr drivers..they treat drivers like crap.

Didn't they implement a two-tier system a few years ago? One for the veteran drivers and another for anyone hired after that? Probably not anywhere as good of a job as it used to be.
