they live all in the same house. they pool thier monies for rent and food, and nearly everything else. when there is enough down payment money for one family to buy a house, they move out, and another family moves in. this is why you will see so many with NEW cars and SUV's as well. since nearly all immigrants do this, they are able to get what they want, faster than an American, who generally chooses to live as one family or one person.
Used to be nice in those areas until their politically correct open borders policy. The whole European continent is turning into a cesspool.
Sounds pretty good to me. Compared to how bad we're getting ripped off by our government and our Wall Street criminals, these people who actually do something for their money aren't that bad of a problem. I don't know why I picked your post, Rollin, guilt maybe, but let's not forget this important fact of life. At one time, every American was an immigrant. We all came here for a better life. For us now to cry "thief" at the present day immigrants is a hypocritical position. I'm an O'Brien. If my family had run into the kind of opposition we are so happy to give mid-East and European, south American and Mexican immigrants, even Jewish people, I'm not sure how that would work. I'm very grateful to be an American citizen, I vote, I pay taxes, and I'm sure a lot, most, of these immigrants are good people. Family people, honest people, hard working people, good people to have in our neighborhoods, good people to have children going to school with our children. Many guys here who dont understand think the immigrants came here and were handed a free ticket to start any business they wanted. I work for a Lithuanian carrier. He came to this country with a duffle bag and $500. He was a truck driver in his country, so he went to work for Maverick and TMC when he got here. He worked hard,.. saved his nickles and dime, bought his first truck,.. added trucks, hired drivers, had some friends he knew come over and helped them finance trucks to work as owner operators for him. I hired on as a company driver,.. he encouraged me to become an O/O. Never once did he use strong arm tactics to get me to run illegal or has he ever cheated me regarding money. These guys came here to work. As stated,.. they are not here collecting govt checks, EBT card or anything of the sort. They are working hard and thriving. I think many are jealous of their work ethic and think they were some how handed everything with a silver spoon. Reality is quite the opposite. So haters will hate,.. envy, jealousy or just misunderstood. The immigrants will continue to come,.. the ones who work hard will continue to thrive and succeed. This is what I have been exposed to working for and with my carrier. Originally I was like everyone else. Suspicious and looking for the catch, when or where will I get shafted. I learned a new found respect. I get very insulted when I read guys who blame all the problems on immigrants especially when I see more Americans stealing and cheating each other and doing illegal things than anyone else. Hurst
That might be true for a few. Its not the norm and certainly not even a smidgen of the majority to have any kind of effect on us. ITs no different than say Mexican immigrants coming here and working construction on tax exempt status, and unlike the Indian or Eastern Euro counter parts,.. the south of the border spanish will come here and apply for EBT, social services, medicade etc. They do send money back home to the rest of their family across the border. You cant blame them. If I lived there and I saw what appeared to me as well to do Americans with Jobs and having nice things,.. I would come here looking for work too. Hurst
You single me out every chance you get. I'm not being a hater just pointing out the TRUTH. My source on this just happens to be a legal Polish immigrant, lives in the Chicago area, and is also one of my best friends. He talks to drivers pulling those sorts of shenanigans all the time. We joke about these things. I'm the stereotypical redneck from the south. You know how us dumb rednecks down south work for nothing and #### it up for everybody else? Like the white volvo bunch around Chicago does. All kidding aside I don't begrudge anyone coming to this country and trying for a better life. However there is a right way to do it and a wrong way. I pay taxes and so does my friend. Can you please explain to us here what exactly is so hypocritical when we have to compete against people who don't play by the same rules?
Jim, you should pick up a history book. Your Irish ancestors didn't have it any easier. In fact they had it a lot worse. There wasn't the government hand outs there are today.
Look back to all the Italian immigrants who came here and worked for the Mafia. They were into EVERYTHING,.. and were and still are some of the biggest tax cheats. My wife's father is Greek,.. owns a bunch of restaurants,.. he brags about cheating the govt out of taxes all the time. Look at all the large corporations who put money into off shore accounts to hide income. Watched a documentary on this,.. said many billionaire companies havent paid taxes EVER. I wont give my real numbers,.. but if you guys think I didnt write off everything I could and declared the smallest amount of personal income I could come tax time,. you guys are nuts if you think I'm not going to try to minimize the taxes I have to pay. I honestly dont see where we are any different. What a few immigrants do to make a buck isnt hurting me at all. Hurst
