Not singling out immigrants with this statement, it applies to many born in bred in this country. Anyone that runs unsafe worn out pos equipment, expired registration, not part of a drug consortium, no insurance, or the classic 500 mile radius insurance while running coast to coast, operates on 1099, etc etc. does in fact hurt you and me. that type of behavior drives rates down.

 

Those things do and they will catch up to those who do them. Your preaching to the choir brother,.

Have to bare in mind though,.. and I personally know of more American born people doing exactly what you have mentioned. I worked for one out of Tacoma Wa. Biggest liar and cheat I have ever met. Runs a very good con. Knowing what I know now as an O/O, I look back and I hate the guy even more for what I went through to get to where I am now.

Not saying there arent the Chicagoland immigrants who wont try to cheat the system. Just cant single them out as the sole cause. So many more hands in the pie who will and do cheat the system.

I'm of Irish/Polish decent on my fathers side. Mother is German.

Irish were hated and pushed down at every corner they turned. They used to be the cheap labor when they came over in droves. They didnt get along with any of the other immigrants either,.. they fought among themselves as well as with other German, Polish, Italian immigrants of the day. They persevered and overcame obstacles to become some of the best Americans we have today.

I have 2 people I know work for them and the majority of their drivers stay 6 months go back to Europe until the money runs out. My direct knowledge is from an ES Express driver

 

Speaking from my own experience:no one without a legal status can get a cdl or ssn in america,B1 visa (tourist visa) is only good for six months and doesnt give the legal status.HB1(temporarely worker status)have to be approved by the labor department just to fill jobs with special skills that americans cant do and the employer have to sponsor the person and that person cant leave the job for another or he'll loose his legal status.theres also a student visa but the person have to show that hes taking enough credits in college to maintain his legal status. the eastern european drivers that u c on the road they either have a green card thru a family member ,thru marriage or they have refugee status.

 

and these companies all skirt the law with 1099's

 

they only breaking the law by considering an employee a contractor,as i stated before the only way to get a cdl is by having a ssn and the only way to get a ssn is by being legally living in the usa,anybody who says otherwise dont know what his talking about.
