Well, when the industry pays a rookie less than a local warehouse job...all you get are the absolute best of the best.

And don't blame people from other countries. Blame the companies who only pay enough to attract the desperate and transient.

If this industry paid equivalent to what it did 40 years ago, I'm pretty sure more people would "want" to do it.

Never forget: the scariest part of "The Conjuring" series is remembering that once upon a time, truck drivers made enough to afford lake-front property with a stay-at-home wife.

    SpooooOoooooky, right? I get chills!

That's not just trucking. Times are different now all around.

I don't think even my step-dad can afford Lake front property anymore, and he's upper management at a Fortune 500.

Trucking pays well if you are reasonably dispatched and you use your drive line.

Blue collar pays better than most office work. People are just brainwashed into thinking things are different.

I only know because I have been on both sides of the fence. I'm earning upper management income just driving around.

The worst part of my day is getting fuel. There's a run that I do sometimes 5 days a week that's 656 miles round trip plus loading and unloading so my clock is stretched on those days as it is. I can pull in, get fuel and be out of the parking lot in 8 minutes but I'm constantly delayed due to inconsiderate drivers parked either in front of behind fuel islands doing God knows what. Yelling at them does nothing because most don't understand English.

As a former white collar guy, I can confirm. They would never lower themselves to work blue collar because, truth be told, many of them are status obsessed.

Local work with pumps at the yard. The only time I go to a truck stop is to use the bathroom. Funny thing is I always back into a spot. Even when I’m only there 10 minutes

Wait another 4 years when all the charging stations become a place to camp out.

Unfortunately, it's tons of small carriers run by first generation foreigners doing it too who bring in indentured servants to drive on work visas. They're not citizens and don't speak English.
