'Scuse, please...I meant to say southeast Chicago.

We ALL get lost all the time. Only a few of us admit it. Only a few of us panic and do something incredibly stupid to make it worse. Like trying to use the drive- thru lane in a fast food restaurant for a U-turn. Or driving across a golf course to avoid a low bridge. Or driving into a College campus hoping to find a parking lot big enough to turn around in.
Won't be long before you learn to NOT PANIC and keep driving 'till you can calmly, safely make a slow turn around without drawing attention. That way you look like you know why you're there and you know exactly what you are doing. That's what we learned after destroying golf greens, fast food restaurants and college parking lots.Bumpy, tinytim, BigJohn54 and 1 other person Thank this. -
i lived in alaska a long time and actually it doesn't set at all above the arctic circle in the summer.east and west settings are only reliable around the spring and fall equinoxes in the winter it never sets below the antarctic circle

South side of downtown, if you miss the turn where the highway splits south, you end up at lakeshore drive or something like that. No trucks allowed north, so I turn south and get off at the first exit intending to go west and get back to the highway. Only the right lane is like a u-turn lane that puts you on the street going north that goes into an underground complex.
The guy at the gate let me through to turn around in there but I couldn't find anyplace to turn around and ended up going on till I came out the other side north of the first wrong turn I made. Not realizing that, I turned right back towards lakeshore dr and turned left thinking I'd get back on the highway again. But no, that lead straight into down town with no truck signs everywhere.
I eventually escaped without being discovered, luckily. You'd be surprised at the trouble you can find yourself in in a flat top truck pulling a skateboard. I once ended up going through the tunnels into, across, and out of Manhattan during rush hour by mistake. That 270 degree turn off of 11th ave into the 2nd tunnel taking up 3 lanes of traffic and two lanes of sidewalk with two cops watching was especially fun. -
Ok if I'm ever THAT FREAKIN' LOST, I'll remember that. If I was lost and headed in that direction, hopefully the "Welcome to Canada" sign will clue me in before I even get that far.

The only grass I have ever driven a loaded 18 wheeler on was my own. That was 2 years ago and there's still trenches in the grass that makes the riding mower bounce around and scalp the grass when I go over it.Last edited: Jun 24, 2011

We have a Sam's Club we deliver at in Springfield at Division and US65. The instructions are somewhat unclear - especially since the first intersection where you need to turn at is constantly changing due to construction - and it doesn't look like it leads into a loading dock.
If you decide that's not it... you're screwed. There's no place to turn around for about 20 miles, unless you go through exactly the right couple of streets in a residential area. Ummm... errr... I'll take the 5th on how I know about this. Didn't go 20 miles either!!! LMAO!!!
One of our guys took the bait, missed the turn, and decided the 7th green was where he needed to turn around. Got stuck, got the bill - for the green and the tow, and his walkin' papers!Bumpy Thanks this.
