I tried to be an adult supervision provider, not my forte.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Those aluminum logs aren't tarped. I worked at an extrusion plant years ago, and from November, til March or so, if a load like that came in untarped, they were rejected. Even though they sat outside at the processor, and sat outside at our plant.
The road salt, and such would contaminate the aluminum, and make them unusable. -
Same goes for most metal. Drivers always question why something has to be tarped if it's stored outside at the shipper and stored outside at the receiver.
Rain isn't a problem, but that road salt is killer. -
Packaged roof shingles always got me! Like what the hell? Why tarp these?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
They want the packaging to be in good shape so when the get delivered to the customer they don’t look like they have been through a hurricane.

I’m think you may be confusing a company policy with FMCSA regulation. But I could be wrong. If it’s a regulation please show where it’s at.Tb0n3 and spyder7723 Thank this.

It depends on where its coming from, where its going and what it's used for. Not all aluminum ingots need tarped.
-
I've pulled plenty of them no tarp and plenty tarped. Every time i asked about why does this need tarped the answer has ALWAYS been because a driver lost bundles so now everyone tarps to keep it on the trailer. Thank our brain dead drivers for that.Oxbow and Highway Sailor Thank this.

You won't ever find that regulation because it doesn't exist.
