Its one of the most dangerous jobs out there! However its not the "boogey man" you need to be worrying about! Its everyone else sharing the same road! Yesterday I saw an accident in which a four-wheeler went through the median, flew up into the air and hit a big truck head on while flying through the air! There was nothing left of the car and all that was left of the big truck was the frame of the tractor and the trailer. Two days before that I saw what appeared to be a car under the rear end of a tractor trailer. Really all that was left was the back bumper and the trunk. The rest of the car was just obliterated! There was a yellow canvas kind of draped over exposed part of the trunk and attached to the rear doors of the trailer. I can 100% guarantee no one survived that one! Even Superman probably would have gotten hurt in that one!

You do need to be aware of your surroundings and use common sense out there but on the whole you shouldn't have any problems with your personal security. Like I said, you need to be smart about things and pay attention to your surroundings. Don't be victim! Once you get there you will learn what areas you should probably steer clear of and what areas you have to use extra caution in. There are many things you can do to up the chances of your safety without being "Bruce Lee" or having to carry a gun!

only time I got a little concerned was when I had to tarp this onion load in Brawley, CA. Shipper had a tiny lot so you have to go down the street to tarp, of course I park across the street from some gang bangers. One of the fastest full tarp jobs I ever did. lol. In other words don't stray too far from the big roads in certain areas and you should be ok.
