the last place I was at, I made a steady 900-1000 a week bring home, they send me my final 2 weeks pay and its 700 dollars...
The next gig im getting is a union gig, its steelworkers. I dont know if i like the fact that its union or not...
Ladytrucker, have you looked into any reigonal outfits around here? I know theres a couple places around here hiring flatbed drivers that are decent outfits to work for from what Ive been told, I just like my hometime too much to go to one of them myself.
How did I end up like this?

now hopefully soon i can find another job to work the rest of my years atlobes1985 Thanks this. -
Most job hoppers will always be job hoppers. They will always find an excuse for quiting a good job time after time. All one has to do is read through the threads on this site to figure this out.
I have a good friend like this. He starts with a company and they are the best thing since sliced bread, then the complaints start. They are always the same ; I didn't get home on the day I was supposed to.(Freight does not always go right to your hometown from BF where ever you are. Sometimes you have to be worked towards home) I'm not getting any miles. ( Its the nature of the business sometimes it gets slow, It may last a week or a few weeks. I can guarantee the company doesn't like you sitting any more than you do, they have bills to pay too.) My dispatcher has it out for me. ( Did you ever stop and think that maybe your dispatcher is tired of hearing you whine and complain all of the time? I have only had one dispatcher that I truly couldn't get along with, I went to the right person and was taken off of his board and my troubles were over) The trucks are worn out and junkie. ( Did you really expect to start out in a new truck before you've proven yourself?) They make me run illegal. ( Put on your big boy pants and say NO. Although most of the time if you had managed your time you would be able to make the run you were given legally.) Their trucks run to slow. ( Once again put on your big boy pants. If you want a fast truck the YOU go out and buy one of your own, buy the fuel to go in it, put your name on the side of the door and drive as fast as you want right into the poor house.) Another on of my favorites "The recruiter lied to me". ( The recruiter is a sales man, it is his job to get you in the door. Did he in fact lie to you or did you just hear what you wanted to hear? )
The point is if you are a job hopper then you will always find an excuse to quit job after job. Look around you, the main difference between company x and y is the color of the truck and the name on the door. You can go too any company out here and find drivers that have been there for years and are perfectly happy, making a good living and doing a good job for the company that they work for. Then you have the job hoppers that wouldn't be happy if you payed them $2 a mile and gave them a brand new truck every year. It just the truth and sometimes the truth looks like the
person staring back at you in the mirror.................... -
So VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY VERRRRRRRRRRY True and you find them everyplace not just in trucking.
dino6960 Thanks this. -
I must be in a coma, 19 years this summer with the same outfit. Yes there have been some slow times and bumps in the road, but those have been for everyone, changing scenery sometimes can't solve the whole economy being down.

I think to an extent its in our blood to wander.
Why do you think we do what we do. -
I guess I've been a job hopper in my 15 years of driving. But it's not always my fault. Left my first company for 3 months for an offer of twice as much money and home everyday. When that didn't pan out I went back to company number 1. I finally left them for a company that gave me the opportunity to run out west. Was there for 9 months until they shut down. Found a company in Ohio that ran out west and ended up moving here. After 4 years I bought a truck. A few months after the G.M. left to start a company and asked me to join him. After a year there a contract fell through and I took my truck and signed on with a local Columbus company. That lasted for 7 months until they lost a contract and couldn't keep me busy. So back to the previous company on the promise of starting a reefer division. Well, that didn't work out, I sold my truck, and drove for the guy in his truck OTR.
So I do that for 6 more months and find a job hauling gas locally. Do that for 10 months and was a passenger in a car accident. In the hospital and then off work for 9 months I was laid off by them. Back OTR with FFE for 6 months until another gas company hires me. Worked for the gas outfit until I had a disagreement with the boss and was fired. Gotta love "at-will" states. So now I am with FedEx Ground and loving it.
Sometimes you hob hop out of necessity. Some people job hop because they get mad at every little thing. Like the thread complaining about Swift's breakdown pay. Be glad you get that, not leave because it's low. -
Biscuit, our situations sound VERY alike, alot of mine werent because I was mad, it was for either slow work, or the other job was a much better offer. Ive felt bad EVERY place ive left except one.
