One other thing, I doubt $6-7K starting out is doable off load boards to start out with. You will need to establish yourself. Some brokers will only work with a carrier with an established MC #.
Once you have established a track record with a broker, rates will increase. But to get your best rates you need to be customer direct. You need to sell yourself. Start with a small customer near you to get an outbound load, maybe to the same destination every week at a good rate. Then use load boards to get home. After that try to find another direct customer near the location you deliver the first outbound load. Maybe that load doesn't get you home and you use the load board to make it home.
The goal would be a perfect out and back or triangle route with all direct customers. THEN you can make $6-7K a week.
How difficult for a truck ?

This would probably be a good job for a company driver who dont mind staying gone a lot and who likes music. Delivering Entertainment road shows. Actually drive about 1800 miles a week and make 1200/week plus bonuses and benefits. Says work 4 days a week. The rest of the week they put you up in a motel. May have to stay gone for months at a time? And go to Canada
