Some guys say highway on ramps if you can't find a spot.

I just don't know if you will get a good sleep though with cars and trucks going by you that close. I don't know not a driver yet so i don't know how sound proof these trucks are.

It's not bad in the middle of no where. Get the on ramp not the off ramp. It's a little slower

Maverick Griff and 1278PA Thank this.

Rest areas work for me. I shower at pilots on my 30 during the day when parking is good and sleep at rest stops at night. I've found that there is almost always parking before 10pm at rest stops. A lot of drivers will skip the pull throughs and park off the exit to rest stops. So they may look full but I've never not found an empty pull through before ten. It might take a minute to get into a tight pull through but if you go wide enough, you should be able to make it. The exception for me was some weird rest stop in Duluth, MN. It was built for 48's and never upgraded. But it was empty so, no problem.

Also, don't forget that a lot of Cabellas have huge semi parking lots. But they close at 9:00... So no toilets at night unless you walk to a Waffle House nearby.

The biggest drawback to rest areas seems to be there's usually one drug addict camped out near the toilets begging for money. Had a ####ing sketch ball junkie lurking around my truck all night once.

In a lot of states, you can even park in open coops. Not that I'd want to and be easy pickins for a inspection. I wouldn't even want to park in a closed one.

I also preferred rest areas to truck stops. I kept a gallon jug of tap water, towel, washcloth and soap in the truck for a "sleeper bath" when necessary. Hot water was courtesy of the microwave. Worked great in a pinch.

    Maverick Griff Thanks this.
