How do employers count "1 year experience"?

It'll vary from company to company. Some will say 1yr experience but if their insurance policy let's them, they'll take you with 5 months. List the companies you'd like to work for and call them and ask. Simple.

Insurance driven. Mine says 23 with 2 years 'veryfiable' experience DRIVING like equipment.

Since the appication is required to have several items and one is a section where the applicant lists 'all' experience driving class B, class A and bus. This section should reflect all experience and should jive with the listing of employment.

OP the time driving the class C should be reflected in this section and the whole time driving class C and Class A should be shown in the employment section and the person reviewing the application, if following the DOT's intent should pick up the difference. You can bet some would miss the difference and count all the time as class A.

The risk is if the applicant is involved in and accident. Anything that would end up being scrutinized by a legal team could bite you and the carrier.

Faced with an applicant with 23 months experience is different than one with only 20 months or less. A lot of my port guys are the same ethnic background and existing guys will bring a bud by and I will reject his app over the amount of experience and 50% -or- more come back after obtaining more experience and get leased on...
