Hey guys Jay here,Been reading post on this site for years finally signed up. As i have a question thats starting to become a splinter in my mind.
I know you guys are busy so im gonna keep it short and sweet. Thanks in advance to all that awnser.

Im 23 i work for CRST my contract will be complete at the end of 2019 summer.
I team drive with my wife. I do about 500-600 miles a day my wife does 400-500

Only bill we pay is our phone bill.No kids.
Our pay checks are very low. 95% of them being in the $250-300 range. We would like to earn more money so that we may start a homestead and escape the rat race the best we can.

Should we go dedicated?Get specialized?Any great team companies? The $1000 a week paycheck is starting to seem like folklore.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am lost how does one do say 500 day and another say 400 and between both sounds like 450? I did the lowest average you said. How are they paying your rates? is your phone eating rest that? are you referring to 1000 take home or 1000 gross there's a difference I took that much from when I worked at swift when I worked there as an OTR driver which was very hard. there are much better companies team drivers I don't know much on those but I know LTL where the money at or maybe a UPS, Walmart, sounds like CRST paying very very low. to make 1000 take home you need around 1500 gross btw or more depending on taxes.

The rat race never ends gotta pay taxes on your homestead you go for maybe Chinatown can recommend a better company for teams sounds like a horrible experiance.

We started at 30 cpm splitting miles not pay.
Now at 24 cpm. With 11cpm perdiem. Company dosent pay fuel bonus.Or weather shutdown.
Also it seems we never qualify for detention/lay over pays. A load from california to pennslyvania pays $250 sometimes $210 if our housing cost is deducted. We have never had a week over 3000 miles. I want to take home $1000

None of that adds up. 2400 miles x .24 cpm= $576. Get a new calculator. At this rate, doesn’t matter who you work for, you’ll never know if their paying you honestly. Seriously, what’s missing in your info? Cash advances? What’s housing costs? Does Crst charge you rent to live in their Truck?

I average $1k a week as a solo driver doing 450 average daily. Assuming you’re doing 500 miles and the wife does 450 that’s 950 miles daily. Any decent team driving outfit pays .50-.60 cents split for teams in other words ya’ll should be averaging more than 1k a week EACH HEAD if that’s truly you’re average. Or is one guy driving 500 for the day and the other day the other one drives 450? Cause you’ll never make money that way.

So OP, you went from one tier to another lower one, then you have to pay "housing", what housing?

They charging rent on you living in your truck?

3000 mile run with my company is gross $6000 minimal to the truck, you get 40% of the $6000 which works out to $2400, a team end up with a bit more to split.

I honestly can’t believe this is even true. Who would work for a place like this? A team only driving 3,000 miles in a week. No wonder they keep saying there is a driver shortage. The megas want the cheap labor coming.

I would think that if the OP has been here reading posts for years he’d already know the answer.
